More Sahara dust

A couple of days ago I spent an hour or so cleaning yellow dust from the balcony. It’s awful stuff – it gets everywhere and it seems to stick. It takes soapy water and a scrubbing brush to remove it. Today, the dust is back. The mountains are gradually disappearing.

I spent the afternoon in the kitchen cutting chips and chopping carrots. Yesterday I got some very nice looking steak in Interlaken, so fingers crossed.

The last concert

Yesterday was Sunday, and that means Uptown Lights were playing at the Sunstar. We had pizza at the bar for dinner.

Beves and Ibe put on a good show as usual.

Regrettably, the hotel is closing next weekend, so that’ll be the last performance for a while. Hopefully they’ll get booked again for the summer season.

Today we did Val’s physio and a visit to the doctors, followed by lunch at Cafe Waldschluecht. It’s my turn to cook tomorrow, so I popped down to Interlaken afterwards for shopping.

A quiet Saturday

Val was back at the doctors yesterday morning to get her new cast checked – it was fine. On Monday she may be able to get her knee brace adjusted to allow her a little more movement, which would be nice.

Aminaa came round and cooked dinner – a lovely carbonara.

She went paragliding for her birthday.

This morning I changed all the clocks, and I have finally swept all the Sahara sand off the balcony. We’re off to the Sunstar later for Uptown Lights.

Party time

Yesterday afternoon Vroni picked Val up and took her to the hairdresser. I walked up to Rocks a little later, and we had a good time at Julie’s birthday party. Angela had reserved the bench at the end of the bar.

The party began to wind down after a couple of hours as people went for dinner. We had a table reservation at the Eiger. The food has been really good here this season.

After a lovely meal we wandered back to Rocks for cocktails. This morning Val was at the doctors again, while I got the shopping and had a coffee at the Crystal bar. The sun’s still shining, and most people were in t-shirts today.

Happy birthday everyone

The beautiful sunny weather continues. View across towards Winteregg, and if you look really closely you can see the moon next to the distant Tschingelhorn.

This morning we were up early and off to the doctors. Val’s swelling has gone down, so now her cast is too big. Time to get a new one.

The doctor says that the cast can come off in another 3 weeks, so that’s good news. Her knee is still a big unknown, apparently she’ll need an appointment with a consultant down in Interlaken to find out what’s going to happen next.

It’s happy birthday to at least 4 people we know today, namely Julie (Wengen), Aminaa (Wengen), Giovanny (Barcelona) and Steve (Zermatt). Predictably therefore, we’re going to have a party later.

Happy anniversary

30 years ago today, we caught the train down to Lauterbrunnen and got married. As memory serves it was snowing heavily and absolutely freezing. Today couldn’t be more different. It’s sunny, warm, and the garden is springing into life.

Val had physio this afternoon, and while she was being manipulated I went for a beer. Back at home we have cards.

Val has a pretty significant doctors appointment in the morning, so we’ll save the celebrations for tomorrow night.
