The train from Interlaken passes through it, and I&#8217;m sure most people don&#8217;t give it a second glance, particularly in winter. However, behind the station and invisible from the train is an absolute gem of an old Swiss town. It is not a tourist attraction &#8211; people have been living here for at least 1400 years, which makes it about the same age as our home village of Shifnal. <\/p>\n<p>This is the old town square. The date on the house is 1509. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wpid-2016-01-08-15.01.36.jpg.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"2016-01-08 15.01.36.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wpid-2016-01-08-15.01.36.jpg.jpeg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a fine old church. There&#8217;s been a church on this site since 1196. (First pic is not mine).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wpid-15_full.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"15_full.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wpid-15_full.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wpid-2016-01-08-15.03.31.jpg.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"2016-01-08 15.03.31.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wpid-2016-01-08-15.03.31.jpg.jpeg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A covered bridge connects the old village with the church and the neighbouring hamlet of Gsteig.
