To get there you get a little post bus which runs up and down the hill four times a day. Great views at the top.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-534046308.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-534046308.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4253 alignnone size-full\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2178\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The path descends through the forest, and is quite steep in places. Lots of streams to cross.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-2126779893.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-2126779893.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4254 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2032\" height=\"1304\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Occasionally we get a glimpse of the view down the valley. We&#8217;re overlooking the military airport (now mostly used by dog walkers) and lake Brienz.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-1833272995.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-1833272995.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4255 alignnone size-full\" width=\"1938\" height=\"1216\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Saxeten is unfortunately most well known for the canyoning disaster which happened in summer 1999. You can read a contemporary news report&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/swiss-river-disaster-black-wall-of-water-swept-down-the-gorge-crushing-everyone-in-its-path-1109256.html\">here<\/a>. We pause at a memorial.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-2019733299.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mikeeasley.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/wp-image-2019733299.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4256 alignnone size-full\" width=\"3000\" height=\"1798\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a working water wheel at this old mill.
