We head up to M\u00e4nnlichen half an hour earlier than usual, hoping to find some good snow before sun and thaw take their toll on the ski runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Things started well enough, and the first kilometre of the long run down to Holenstein was pretty good. Soon however, the rapidly warming snow got very sticky. Skis don\u2019t work very well in conditions like this, and stopping for coffee when we got back to the top was an easy decision.
