The big day – Downhill

The Lauberhorn downhill race is the pinnacle of our sport. Victory today means immortality in skiing circles, particularly if you’re Swiss. Last night we watched the bib draw from Paul & Anne-Marie’s balcony. It’s the best vantage point in the village.


Later on in Rocks. Val’s ski school trainees seem to get younger every year. Here she is with Roxy and Sophie.

This morning, needless to say, the jets are back.

Downhill day will be even busier than yesterday. Jana is working at the coffee stall.

I posted a picture of this food stall yesterday. Here it is again. The very sharp eyed amongst you may notice that prices have increased by 30%.

The race was won by yesterday’s winner Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. Marco Odermatt was second, one of 5 Swiss racers in the top ten.
