At long last the weather has turned and we have sunshine to go with all the new snow.

We ran into Colin at Scheidegg and had a good cruise around. More people about today.

More snow, more skiing
It’s another dull morning, lots of fresh snow fell last night. There were only a dozen people in the cable car this morning, and no wonder. When we arrive at Mannlichen it’s like the end of the earth – not a soul about.

Character-building skiing though the trees down towards Grindelwald. Only saw a handful of other skiers the whole way down.
Grund is the lowest point in our ski area at 990 metres. Still snowing even down here while we wait for the train.
We get the train up to Scheidegg and have lunch. The view from the restaurant isn’t very inviting. Everyone jumps on the train back to the village, though we get out at Allmend and ski the last bit so we can have our cafe fertig at the Figeller bar. Back in the village, the tourist office staff are decorating their tree.

At home we have our old problem again – too much snow so we can barely get through our door!

Gloomy Monday
First day of the season
A bit grey and murky today, quite warm in the village. We collect our stuff from Central Sport, waste half an hour chatting to Colin, and venture up the hill.

Skiing through the gloom. It’s hard to see your way in weather like this.

New bridge over the piste at Wixi. Ski underneath to go to Wengen, over the top for the new 6 seater lift up to the Lauberhorn.

The Figeller bar on the nursery slope in Wengen. You have to ski past it to get home. Everyone stops for a cafe fertig.
