Gloomy again

Good party in Rocks yesterday evening with Uptown Lights providing the entertainment. This morning was grey and mild. Fireworks for sale in the street for the festivities tonight.

At Scheidegg there’s a new pizza oven in the little teepee, replacing the old (and slow) wood burning oven that we’ve had for years.

Nursery slope at Scheidegg. High above at Eigergletcher you can see the tower crane that’s being used to construct the terminal of the new Eiger Express lift from Grindelwald. It should be finished in time for the start of the ski season next year.

We did get a few rays of sunshine later in the afternoon. Lots of kids having fun, village looking beautiful.

Thankyou for the music

The film was very good last night – if you like Queen’s music I can thoroughly recommend seeing Bohemian Rhapsody.

This morning was grey and overcast, not great skiing weather but of course Val had to go up anyway. She’s teaching a family from Bridgnorth who learned at Telford. View down Bumps towards the village.

Bumps is part of the World Cup downhill course, so the snow is pretty good. Our nursery slope on the other hand, is beginning to look a bit threadbare.

Uptown Lights have an afternoon gig at the snow bar outside the Brunner. It seemed to go really well.

We’ll be seeing them again in Rocks later this evening.

Super Saturday

The Saturday between Christmas and New year is one of the busiest of the season in terms of arrivals and departures. Ali got this pic of the queue for the cable car up to Mürren this morning.

It’s a dismal place to have to queue too, as the valley is under a cloud.

Meanwhile, at the top of the Lauberhorn, the best seat in the house awaits you.

Cinema tonight, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Run run run

Beves and Ibe have a regular Wednesday evening slot at the Caprice this season, so we popped in to see them last night. It was a bit quiet as many people seemed to be having a quiet night in after the excesses of Christmas day, but the music was great.

This morning was cold and clear. Val headed up to her ‘office’. Here it is, early this morning.

Everyone else seemed to go skiing, but it’s perfect weather for a run so I headed down to Lauterbrunnen. The temperature was hovering around zero and the path along the river was dry. In these conditions I can go fast and far, and I count my blessings as I listen to reports of motorway congestion on Radio 2.

The Telegraph ran an article on the prettiest ski resorts in the world a few days back. Guess which village had the number one spot.

Happy Swissmas

We had our Christmas dinner down at Beanie and Sandro’s last night. A lovely meal of prawns, lamb and chicken.

The girls were beside themselves with excitement. Lots of presents to open.

These horses were very well received.

A really nice evening as ever.

Today was glorious. This is the home run back to Wengen.

Better weather

The rain and snow have gone, and it’s a sunny day at last. Val went off to work and I headed down to Lauterbrunnen and had a run along the valley. Waterfalls particularly impressive this morning.

I got the train up to Allmend with Ali, Claire and Colin. Val skied down from Scheidegg and we all had lunch. Nice views back to the village.

Merry Christmas!
