Männlichen

I was up early this morning for my 8am physio session, and afterwards we thought we’d pop up to Männlichen for lunch. It’s another beautiful day. View of our valley from the top.

The view of the mountains from the restaurant must be one of the best in the Alps. Lunch was nice too, rösti with a lovely mushroom sauce.

At this time of year the cable car from Wengen runs every 20 minutes. The journey takes 6 minutes.

This evening we had a nice dinner at the Caprice, followed by a few drinks in Rocks. Tomorrow we’ll be on the train to Zurich to catch a flight back to Birmingham. Tune in again at the end of November for winter stuff.

Wandering around

Val had gym this afternoon, but before that we had a stroll around the village. It’s a wonderful autumn day. A few snapshots.

Afterwards we bought hot wurstwegen (sausage rolls) from the bakery for lunch. It was comfortably warm enough to enjoy them on a sunny bench outside the cable car station.

Walking wounded

Val had her usual Monday morning physiotherapy this morning, and this afternoon she went down to the gym at Wilderswil. Somehow, the train completely overshot the station and ended up straddling the crossing.

Coincidentally, Val’s colleague Ryan was also at the gym, trying to aid his recovery from a broken ankle.

And as if all that wasn’t enough, I’ve done something to my shoulder (I’ve no idea how) which means it doesn’t work properly any more, so I’ll be going to the physiotherapist tomorrow afternoon.

Sunshine!

At last, the rain has come to an end, and I can wander up to the village without having to dress like a round the world yachtsman.

Needless to say, the waterfalls are all running at full speed. Up at the top there’s been a lot of snow.

The summer season is drawing to a close, and later on Beves and Ibe will play their last gig at the Sunstar.

It’s still raining

It’s been raining for almost a week now, and there was no let up today. Last night Ali and Emily came round for dinner. As it’s hunting season, we had venison with lots of vegetables.

We braved the rain earlier and went shopping in Interlaken, but apart from that the only news is that Val has now exceeded 500 kilometres on her exercise bike.
