Gara Rock

This afternoon we caught the little ferry that takes us across to East Portlemouth on the other side of the estuary.

Quite breezy on the water, but it’s bright and sunny.

And some nice machinery in the anchorage.

We walk along the coast, then turn inland until we reach Gara Rock on the other side of Portlemouth Downs. We’re high on the cliffs.

We head west, back towards the mouth of the estuary. North and South Sands.

Views back to Salcombe.

We stopped for ice cream at East Portlemouth. Views across the anchorage towards our cottage.

A walk around town

Lots of painting and general sprucing-up going on ahead of the first bank holiday weekend of the season. We had a walk round to Batson.

Memorabilia in one of the old boat builder’s workshops in Island street.

Tomorrow’s lunch, alive alive oh.

More nice spots.

Great views over the anchorage from the Ferry Inn.

Salcombe

Nice easy run down to Devon this morning, and here we are in Salcombe. We have a cottage right by the water.

It’s still April so the weather’s not exactly tropical, but lovely views nevertheless.

We get a sharp shower, and an incredible rainbow across the harbour.
