Quiz night

Val has finished her 1500 piece jigsaw. It’s the Arc de Triomphe.

Last night we had our quiz again.

We normally do quite well, but last night we were soundly beaten. Emily was otherwise engaged, and we certainly missed her. Our ‘non-essential’ shops are all reopening tomorrow, so we’re looking forward to a lot of shopping this week. Val got this lovely shot as the sun set behind the Bietenhorn this evening.

Slow day

We had a lovely takeaway curry round at Ali’s last night.

Emily has baked me a birthday cake.

Blowing out the candles.

We tried our best, but after all that curry we could only manage half of the cake. Not to worry, Paul and Anne-Marie are coming round tonight so we’ll have another go. Today was a bit slow, but we did manage to clean the house from top to bottom.

Spring is coming

Val has a day off. She did her German class this morning. Alpine Choughs flying above the village. The view to the mountains is hazy; it’s that dust from the Sahara again.

This afternoon we popped down to Interlaken for shopping. Alongside the railway is a sure sign that spring is on its way – snowdrops.

At this rate we’ll be fetching our summer clothes from the cellar before long.

Larina has made the newspaper – she does this quite regularly. Here she is (centre) outside the bakery, who are selling special biscuits to raise money for the local children and youth association.

Fine dining

It’s mild again today, but without the sunshine that we enjoyed yesterday. In the meadows below our house the snow has largely melted now.

Val went up to work this afternoon. It was much quieter than it was at the weekend. The school holidays are over now, which should mean everything is a bit less frantic than it’s been lately. Quiet slopes.

While Val was doing her lesson I made a big toad in the hole for dinner. Nice!
