Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy

…better known as Felix Mendelssohn of course, was a regular visitor to the Bernese Oberland, and he stayed in Wengen. The romantic era composer is celebrated with a week of music in the village every August. Above the village is a memorial.

Fine views back to the village from up here, even on a gloomy day like today.

The weather may not be up to much if you’re a tourist going up to the Jungfraujoch, but it was absolutely ideal for my run this morning.

Warm again

Nice evening out at the Sunstar last night. Emily’s mate Claire is here for a few days.

This morning the sun has returned. It’s a beautiful day.

We head down to Interlaken. We need shopping and I need a new phone. Fountain on the Hohematt.

Mission accomplished, we head back to Wengen.

Phone trauma

It’s a much better day today, so I headed out for a run around the village. It’s still cloudy, so there are no mountain views, but at least it isn’t raining. My phone has been playing up for days now, and last night it wouldn’t charge at all. My afternoon was therefore spent trying (and failing) to fix it. They don’t make ’em like they used to.

Duo Centrale in the Sunstar later.

Heatwave

Lovely evening at the Caprice last night with Beves and Ibe entertaining us, while the mountains above glow pink.

The hot weather continues today, so up to Männlichen we go. We walk as far as Gummi before pausing for lunch.

Colin and Steve are playing in Rocks tonight.
