Nidri

We said goodbye to Meganisi this afternoon and pottered across to Nidri. Some clouds around today but still no rain. We’re doing well for October.

We tie-up on our usual pontoon and grab a beer with Yiannis at the Athos. Back on the pontoon we come across Otto the pontoon guy in full dress uniform. There’s a wedding at the church across the bay and Otto is ferrying the VIPs across.

Peace

Very quiet in the marina this evening.

Until…
About 20 girls arrived aboard 3 biggish charter yachts. I always tell my crews to treat the boat like a climbing frame, but this lot are taking it to a whole new level!

Great anticipation in the anchorage about the England v Australia rugby game tomorrow – every taverna is promising to show it. Kick off is at 10pm our time, so it should be a good night.

Katomeri

Off for a walk today, and we head for the nearby village of Katomeri in the middle of the island. Lovely views across the Ionian to Kalamos.

These tiny churches are everywhere, and beautifully kept.

Back in the harbour I’ve never seen so many yachts in my life. The reason is simple. There’s a big storm forecast and Little Vathi is the safest harbour in the area. The question is, will the storm actually materialise?
