Village Opening

Village Opening marks the official start of the winter season here in Wengen. The shops set up stalls and we cruise around town eating mince pies and cheese, and drinking gluwein and Irish coffee. It’s a bit quiet this year as most of the hotels don’t open until next weekend.

Still no sign of snow, but it is getting colder.

Recycling

Our flat is coming along nicely. Today we have heard of some dining chairs that are going begging. We pop down the hill and pick them up.

It hasn’t snowed for ages, but there are huge piles of man-made stuff on the nursery slope.

Our neighbours have a cat. This creates a challenge as we live on the first floor. They have built a ladder so the cat can get in and out via the balcony.

Back in Wengen

We arrived last night and moved into our new flat. It’s very nearly finished and everything is new and very nice. Splendid new kitchen.

Had a potter about today changing a few things around to make as much space as we could. Glorious weather,  snow cannons have been working but it’s not really cold enough yet.

Not many bars open at the moment, but Rocks is open for the weekend so we popped in. Most of the usual crowd are here already.
