Catty capers

Our neighbours are away so we’ve been cat sitting for the past few days. Last night I was standing outside Rocks having a smoke when the cat wandered up to me making those ‘feed me’ noises.

I picked him up, carried him home and gave him his dinner. I left him to it and went back to Rocks.

About half an hour later I heard lots of noise from the big table at the back. The cat had returned and was enjoying some company.

He really enjoyed himself. Guess we’ll be seeing him again soon now he knows where to find us.

Blue skies again

We managed to have a quiz last night with three teams of two.

Yesterday’s fog has gone and it’s much colder this morning. The sun’s out! Männlichen and First are now closed as are the nursery slopes in Wengen and Grindelwald, so all this week’s beginners have to come to Scheidegg. It’s busy!

Up on the Lauberhorn things are a lot quieter. Here’s Val on Wixi.

Ustrinkete

It’s the time of year when the bars need to run down their stocks. This is a good thing for us, as an ‘ustrinkete’ or ‘drink out’ means cut price beer and wine. Last night it was the Sunstar and they attracted a big crowd to see Duo Centrale play their last concert of the season.

Today has been foggy and cold so we did our chores. Quiz later if there are enough people still here to make up a few teams.

    Stechelberg

Good night out yesterday; went to Val’s end of season ski school party at Grindelwald. Got a lift with Julie & James – first time we’ve been in a car this year!

Later we ended up in a bar of course. The singer was good.

This morning we popped down to Lauterbrunnen and caught the bus to Stechelberg, a hamlet at the very end of our valley. The road comes to an end here.

Apple strudel for lunch at the little hotel.

We walked back to Lauterbrunnen and bought some cheese from a farm on the way.
