Sunny – wind up high.

It’s windy at Scheidegg with half the lifts closed, but down here in the village it’s a beautiful day – people are wandering around in tee shirts. Work on the cable car continues apace.

They have 8 weeks to get everything built, tested and certified before it opens for the summer season at the beginning of June.

There’s a curling tournament going on with teams from Wengen and Mürren. Jana is playing, so Val looked after Oskar this morning.

Val’s colleague Alice is coming over from Grindelwald for the evening, and Akim is playing in Rocks.

Season drawing to a close

We had a good night out in Rocks yesterday with Steve and Colin playing what will probably be the last gig of winter.

Windy and gloomy up at Scheidegg today, Val got this shot of preparations for the Snowpenair concert at the weekend. It’s always hard to believe they’ll be finished in time.

Yesterday was the last day of skiing up at Männlichen, and new cabins have been ordered for the cable car. They didn’t waste any time removing the old ones.

It’s Tuesday, so we’ll all be on the 17.03 train down the hill for half price fish & chips at the Three Tells pub in Matten later.

Bank holiday Monday

Val was away early this morning and I caught the train up to Scheidegg a little later and had a ski around the area. I must admit I expected it to be really busy, but apart from the usual hot spots on Wixi and Lauberhorn it was pretty quiet. I had Fallboden all to myself.

Back at Scheidegg there’s a bit more traffic, but nothing to worry about.

We skied back to the village and had lunch in the sunshine at the Figeller bar.

More snow

It snowed again overnight. Scheidegg now has over 2 metres of coverage snd some of the signage is proving to be too short.

All this new snow needs to be made safe for the skiers. Piste machines scurry about doing their work. Outside the teepee this SOS guy is playing the role of lollipop man.

We’re hoping this is the end of the snowfalls for this winter – we certainly don’t need any more, and it would be nice to see the sun again.
