Colin installed our new balcony divider yesterday afternoon.

We had a barbecue to celebrate. I finally got my tartiflette about right.

This morning we’re off down to Interlaken for a walk. We begin by following the river towards Unterseen.

Then we pick up a path along the Lombach river.

This leads us to Neuhaus, where we treat ourselves to ice cream.

Very pleasant here alongside the lake.

We continue along the lake shore until we arrive back in Interlaken. It’s a long walk – around 13 kilometres.

It’s a nice day for a run, so we make our sandwiches and head for the Schilthornbahn cable car station. Val sets off towards Lauterbrunnen, and I run in the opposite direction towards Stechelberg. No music to listen to today however. The BBC have ‘improved’ the iPlayer radio app and in the bright sunshine I can’t see the screen well enough to work out how to tune in to Ken Bruce.

I think this might be a site for some sort of music festival, but who knows?

Views back up to Wengen.

When I reach Stechelberg I turn around at the old post office and head back to Lauterbrunnen. I ended up running quite a bit further than I intended, so Val beat me back to the Horner pub. Last few steps up the hill.

It was cold last night, and this morning the glaciers are white with fresh snow.

We had some shopping to do in Interlaken. Our neighbour Christian is away, so Colin has borrowed his apartment for a while. He likes his sleep.

Showers and sunshine today, but that’s fine, as we don’t have any plans. We take our recycling to the station and stop for a chat in the street. It’s quite pleasant in between the showers.

Back at home we can hear alphorns being played on the Eigerhübel. A very nice Sunday.

We went to the cinema last night to see the Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and the film certainly didn’t hold back in its portrayal of the darker aspects of the great man’s life. Great music, obviously.

Today we had a walk out to Innerwengen. We didn’t want to go too far as we’re expecting more thunderstorms this afternoon.

We double back on ourselves and head for Wengwald along the lower path. The goats seem pleased to see us.

The rain arrived just before 3.

We finished our job this morning and said goodbye to the calves. Lovely view from our office.

The Co-op had steak at half price. A few minutes on the barbecue and it was delicious.

We had our usual Wednesday entertainment at the Caprice last night, in the middle of another thunderstorm.

When the rain finally stopped we were treated to a spectacular rainbow. There were lots of nice photos, but Rolf from the tourist office got a really good one.

Today we had more rain, but it didn’t really matter as we were working again.
