Full moon

The residents’ lounge at the Sunstar was roped off last night. You are welcome to sit down there, but you have to provide your name and address and observe some health precautions.

Needless to say, everyone ignored the advice, and the evening proceeded completely normally. We were sat at the bar where strangely, no precautions were thought necessary.

Outside, the full moon rose above Tschuggen, illuminating the mountains. Anne-Marie got this shot.

This morning it was snowing, but this turned to rain at lunchtime, so the whole village is now covered in slush.

Dinner party

We enjoyed a lovely evening out at Anne-Marie and Paul’s last night. Lesley and Dave came too and we had a super Thai curry. A fair few bottles were emptied. Boozy selfie by Anne-Marie.

We’ve seen all sorts of weather today. Snow, rain and very briefly sunshine at a deserted Interlaken Ost station.

For some reason the railway company was using really old trains today. I reckon our carriage was older than me.

Duo Centrale at the Sunstar later.

Curry

Good night out with Val’s ski school buddies in Interlaken yesterday. We started with beers in the Hüsi, then moved on to the new Indian just around the corner. Spices in the kitchen.

With Mary-Anne.

After all that excitement it was always going to be a slow day today. The weather’s bright and mild so we had a good walk after lunch.

More socialising tonight with dinner at Paul and Anne-Marie’s.

Looks can be deceptive

We had a night in yesterday watching ‘Hanna’ on Amazon (recommended). This morning there was fresh snow on the ground and the weather looked quite nice.

After lunch we had our usual wander around the village. Wow, it’s colder than it looks. Wengen always looks nice after a fresh snowfall.

Up in the mountains it’s a different story. Lots of clouds and the wind will be much stronger up there. View to the Breithorn.

Interlaken tonight; curry with Val’s ski school buddies.

It’s not all skiing and rock & roll

Good night out in Rocks yesterday with Steve and Colin providing the music.

Today it’s a bit gloomy and there’s a cold wind blowing. This matters not one bit to us though, as we’re off to Interlaken where we have an appointment at the Axa insurance office. In the UK you’d do this online, but needless to say it’s a bit different here.

We spent the best part of an hour with our agent Melanie, discussing all the things that could possibly go wrong in our lives. We ended up totally depressed, and convinced that we were going to get home to find the place flooded, or burned to the ground.

So you see, it’s not all skiing and rock & roll here in the mountains.

Rain

Nice neat row of icicles spotted on the way to Rocks last night.

It’s still early in March, so we couldn’t really expect the sunny weather to last for long. Sure enough we awoke to rain this morning. We had a wander. This dog seemed to know he was being photographed. If you fancy a career change, the cheese shop is up for grabs at the moment.

Kids ski lift running, but no kids to be seen in this weather.

Duo Centrale are playing in Rocks later.

First world problems

It’s another beautiful day, so we’re up and out early. Once again there aren’t many people around.

Val, and the Eiger.

Lower down, below the tree line.

There’s a problem with days like this though. Normally skiing is a very social activity; we stop to chat in the lift queue, bump into friends, and generally potter about the mountain. Not today. We just tear around the mountain without even pausing for breath. First world problem I know, but it’s exhausting!
