Trachsellauenen

Today we’re off to a place called Trachsellauenen. It’s the very last hamlet before the mountains that form the continental divide. There’s no public transport, so we walk up from Stechelberg. We have coffee and cake at the little hotel before tackling the steep path up the valley.

Lots of streams to cross.

Staggering glacial scenery.

We stopped alongside the stream and ate our sandwiches.

It’s really rugged terrain, and we only come up here in very settled weather. The white stuff behind Val is snow. It’s easily 3 metres deep.

A good walk of about 13 kilometres.

Up and down the valley

Another nice evening on the Caprice terrace last night with Uptown Lights. This morning I’m due a run, so we head down to the valley. We ended up at the Schilthornbahn.

We treated ourselves to a schnitzel sandwich from the snack van and headed back along the river towards Lauterbrunnen.

A nice bit of exercise on a beautiful day.

Another BBQ

We had a very nice evening down at Beanie & Sandro’s last night, a barbecue with their neighbours Theres and Rudi. We took turns reading Aliena a bedtime story. Nothing much to report today. It’s getting warm again but it was quite overcast. Uptown Lights at the Caprice later.

Bussalp

Beanie and Steve’s turn to play at the Sunstar last night.

This morning we’re off to a place called Bussalp with Ali. You get there by a scary bus ride from Grindelwald. View from the top.

Friendly cows.

Val, Ali and the Eiger.

Val, Ali and the Wetterhorn.

Our walk ends at Bort. We catch the gondola down to Grindelwald and have ice creams beneath the Eiger.

Top day out.

Cat and kitten

It’s a beautiful morning, sunny but cool and fresh. The path down at Lauterbrunnen looks inviting.

A very friendly cat lives at one of the farms. I’ve not seen her for a couple of weeks, and today we found out why.

The last few steps up to the Horner pub. A lovely run, in perfect conditions.
