Monday run

After all the excitement of the football yesterday we went for a curry with Ali and Colin last night, and of course we called into the Tanne bar afterwards. Ronald has an impressive selection of gins this summer.

This morning we headed down to the valley and I ran most of the way to the Schilthornbahn and met Val there for lunch at the new snack van. We finished our gardening job on the way back up to Wengen.

Uptown Lights

Super night out yesterday with Ibe and Beves providing the entertainment.

Up early this morning as we need to get our gardening done before the England game. Rocks is closed on a Sunday but fortunately we have the keys, and Colin likes standing in as barman. As I type this England are leading 6-0, so it’s a cheerful afternoon.

Another week completed

Off down to Lauterbrunnen this morning for another jog along the valley. This was week 6, run 3 of my 9 week Couch to 5K programme. All went well. We spent a pleasant afternoon doing some gardening at a house down at Wengwald. Switzerland are playing football against Serbia later – should be a good night in Rocks.

Storm coming

It’s very warm again so we need to go high where it’ll be a bit cooler. A storm looks likely so we need to be quick. Männlichen to Scheidegg is open, so up we go. Lots of snow at Männlichen.

And further along below Tschuggen. Apparently they used an earthmover to clear the path.

Lots of bright colours from the alpine plants.

Fording the stream that comes down the Lauberhorn.

And eventually we arrive at Scheidegg where the train is waiting to take us back to Wengen.

Biglenalp

A long walk today. We start at Wengernalp.

The views are incredible. We walk down towards Wixi.

Down at Biglenalp with the cattle.

At this point, we got a message from Ali suggesting fish and chips at the Three Tells pub, so we sprinted back to Wengen for showers and jumped on the train.  On the way home we were amused to be diverted into the recycling centre owing to the works going on at the station.
