I’ve been teaching Shaun the last few days, so not many pics. Val got a couple though – here’s Shaun.

And here’s me (red jacket) carving my way through the traffic, with Shaun a few skiers back. You can see that the snow is very yellow off-piste. We had a Saharan storm a few weeks back which covered everything in sand!

My cocktail last night. It’s an ‘Eiger’.

It’s been snowing all day, and it’s really cold. We’re off out for dinner at the Baren tonight though, and it isn’t far. View from our balcony.

Oh and last but not least, some more optimistic souls trying out their parachutes on Mannlichen.

Busy busy busy
Sorry, not much blogging the last couple of days – visitors!
Anyhow, we went out for dinner last night to the Hotel Oberland in Lauterbrunnen. They were doing Australian specials – alligator, kangaroo etc. I went for rack of lamb, and pretty splendid it was too.

Good skiing today, before the snow set in. One of the ski manufacturers was offering demos of their latest models. Very popular.

Off to the Berghaus tonight for snails and chateaubriand.
Walking in the sunshine
Blazing hot today, so we go for a walk out into the meadows behind the village. There are lots of chalets out here, it’s all very picturesque.

Lovely views up the valley to Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg.

We walk down to Lauterbrunnen, more views across towards Murren.

Back in Wengen there’s time for an ice cream on the Eigerhubel before meeting Shaun off the train.

Just skiing
A few clouds rose up from the valley this morning, creating a very arty effect at Scheidegg.

Val on a piste called Black Rock. It starts at the bottom of the Eiger glacier, and takes you down to Wixi where you can catch a chairlift up to the Lauberhorn.

Later on it’s really warm skiing on the meadows above Mary’s Cafe. Forecast is good again for tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Speed flying on the Lauberhorn
Another nice day, up we go for some fun.

Spotted a group of guys on the Lauberhorn trying the latest sport – speed flying. You have a small parachute, just big enough to get you airborne if you ski really fast. These chaps had obviously never done it before, and there were a lot of crashes. Fair play to them for persevering!

Lovely sunny day
Spring is still with us, glorious day to be in the mountains. There are quite a few kids about this week, Mr Gove’s fines are obviously not putting too many parents off.

Val set off after the kids – there’s very little chance of catching them as they just zoom about like lasers.

Val on a popular piste called Wixi.

It’s a really hot day, and after lunch most of the skiers have had enough and returned to the village. The reward, for those who stick at it, is completely empty runs. Here’s Val with a huge piste called Mannlichen all to herself.

Tennis tournament
Beach tennis is getting quite popular. So here, for the first time ever, we have beach tennis on snow. Big tournament, CHF300 to the winner.

Up in the mountains it’s a glorious spring day.
Lovely walk from Grutchalp to Winteregg, where we have lunch. After lunch we have a wander back to Lauterbrunnen for ice cream.
