Another week completed

Off down to Lauterbrunnen this morning for another jog along the valley. This was week 6, run 3 of my 9 week Couch to 5K programme. All went well. We spent a pleasant afternoon doing some gardening at a house down at Wengwald. Switzerland are playing football against Serbia later – should be a good night in Rocks.

Storm coming

It’s very warm again so we need to go high where it’ll be a bit cooler. A storm looks likely so we need to be quick. Männlichen to Scheidegg is open, so up we go. Lots of snow at Männlichen.

And further along below Tschuggen. Apparently they used an earthmover to clear the path.

Lots of bright colours from the alpine plants.

Fording the stream that comes down the Lauberhorn.

And eventually we arrive at Scheidegg where the train is waiting to take us back to Wengen.

Biglenalp

A long walk today. We start at Wengernalp.

The views are incredible. We walk down towards Wixi.

Down at Biglenalp with the cattle.

At this point, we got a message from Ali suggesting fish and chips at the Three Tells pub, so we sprinted back to Wengen for showers and jumped on the train.  On the way home we were amused to be diverted into the recycling centre owing to the works going on at the station.

Hopp Schweiz

Or ‘come on Switzerland’ if you prefer. The Sunstar are attempting to be Wengen’s number one football venue, with a big screen and lots of flags. Drink 3 beers and you get a surprise gift!

Despite falling behind early in the game, the Swiss team did very well and got a deserved draw against Brazil.

This morning I began week 6 of my running programme. It’s getting warm again so it was quite hard work.

Mürren

Rain is forecast, but we head across the valley via Grütschalp.

We have a stroll along to Winteregg. Despite my healthy eating programme it is impossible to avoid a Winteregg burger for lunch.

After eating we set off up the ski piste. Friendly cows along the path.

Ski runs always look steeper without snow.

Eventually we get to the top and we can walk downhill to Mürren where the train awaits. A good day out, and no rain.
