Rain is forecast, so we head down to the valley for a walk before it arrives. Down here it’s still warm enough for the grass to grow, so there are still cattle grazing.

Logs, old and new. If you find a fallen tree in the forest you can chop it up into logs and stack them up. Then you cover them and leave your initials and they’re yours. Logs have to be left for at least 2 years before they make good firewood.

We cross the river at Sandbach. This was the last we saw of the sun this afternoon.

We met Emily and Raffi at Trummelbach and had a coffee in the cafe before we headed home. The rain started just as we got off the train in Wengen.
