Uptown Lights

Super evening out last night with our buddies Ibe and Beves aka Uptown Lights.

We were up early this morning and off to Männlichen we went. It was foggy in the village but the cable car took us above the clouds and it was lovely at the top.

As you can see from the picture the cloud was sitting in the valley so we stayed high. I have new skis today which are absolutely wonderful. They have day-glow soles.

Adrian and Helen left for home this afternoon, have a good journey guys.

Back on the train

It’s time for Jane, Philip and Richard to get on the train and find their way back to the UK via Basel and Paris. We go with them as far as Interlaken.

Have a good trip guys, hope to see you back here next season.

We did some shopping and returned to the village. It’s another gloomy day – Andy next door had been skiing but came home soon after as the visibility was so poor. A lazy day for us then.

Round trip

It’s cold and snowy today, so we plan a trip around the mountains by train. First stop is Kleine Scheidegg where Richard could have a good look at the piste machines that he’s seen prowling the ski runs.

Next it was down to Brandegg for a traditional lunch of apple fritters, followed by a look around Grindelwald. We didn’t stay long as it was so cold. The train took us back to Wengen via Zweilütchinen and Lauterbrunnen, and we were very pleased to get home into the warm.

Curling

Excellent evening out at the Sunstar last night with a guest appearance from Beanie.

Phil did some more skiing this morning, then we met Jan, Steve, Helen and Adrian at Wengernalp for lunch. They’d had a good morning’s skiing.

This evening it’s another new sport for Phil – curling. Tuition from Val.

And here we go.

Sweeping.

Curling is always a fun thing to do.

Barbecue

Lovely evening out yesterday, we hired the grill hut in the garden of the Sunstar.

Here’s chef Willy cooking up our meat-feast.

Phil went skiing again today. It’s sunny so there’s no need to go up to Männlichen. Up the rope tow.

Expert tuition from Val.

Slalom around the ski poles.

Phil wanted to try skating. This week we are lucky as Georgia is an expert. She offered to give him a lesson.

This chair helps with balance.

Georgia can skate like an angel.
