Weather improving

A good night out with music from Akim  yesterday.

Val and Hayley went up early this morning and had a scoot around Männlichen. The mist in the valley has cleared and you can see down to the lake from the top.

Meanwhile Paul and I did a circuit around the Lauberhorn. The light deteriorated suddenly at about 12, so we all headed back towards the village for lunch. Here we are on a gloomy Bumps run.

It started snowing mid-afternoon. The improvement in the weather didn’t last long.

More snow

The weather was a bit gloomy when we went up this morning, but we had a really nice ski through the forest down to Brandegg. While we were having coffee in the restaurant the fog started rolling up the hill towards us.

We continued downhill to the railway halt at Grund just below Grindelwald and had lunch.

While we were eating it started snowing.

Paul and Hayley had a quick run down to Mary’s on the way down. Visibility was a bit marginal.

By the time we got back to Wengen it had snowed quite a bit, so the skiing should be very good once the sun returns.

Snow

The weather wasn’t that great this morning, so while Val did her lesson we went for a walk. It’s much milder than of late, and it was quite pleasant.

It was Val’s last day at work for a while, so we’re off to the Three Tells pub down in Matten for dinner.

Warming up

Val’s ski school team were curling last night. Here she is with Alice.

It’s less cold today, only about minus 20 at Scheidegg first thing this morning. We got the Lauberhorn lift up to the summit and skied the black run down to the restaurant Grindelwaldblick.

After Val finished work we all skied down to Aspen for a lovely lunch. Beers in Rocks to finish off, and tonight we’re round to Paul and Hayley’s for dinner.

Colder

Minus 16 when Val left for work this morning. I hooked-up with Hayley and Paul and we went up to Männlichen. Astonishingly cold up there, but very good skiing.

We pottered round to Scheidegg and met Val for lunch, then we had a cruise down to Brandegg for hot chocolate before skiing back to the village.

Cold

It was minus 10 when we got home from the pub last night, and this morning it’s even colder. The fog is much thinner than yesterday though, so I met Paul and Hayley and we caught the train up to Scheidegg. We had a good ski around the area. What this picture doesn’t show is the cold.

We met Val at lunchtime and had hotdogs in the tipi. While we were eating the weather changed and it got even colder with snow. Any plans for further skiing were abandoned at this point. We stayed in the tipi for a while and caught the train back down to the village.

Paul and Hayley

We waved goodbye to the Barrs last night, and simultaneously welcomed Paul and Hayley. Drinks in Rocks.

Justin was determined to get into this snap.

This morning we sorted out all the equipment and had as much of a ski as the chilly and foggy weather permitted. Val was working up at Scheidegg and she came back looking like a little ice cube.
