My birthday

We had a quiet day today, sitting watching the snow fall in between the clouds that have enveloped the village for most of the day. Here’s a shot from our balcony in one of the clearer interludes.

It won’t be a quiet evening however. We’re having a party in Rocks with Duo Centrale providing the music. Very much looking forward to it. Tune in tomorrow for pictures.

Spring skiing

The forecast told us that today would be warm and sunny again, so it’s a spring skiing day. We got up really early and caught the 8.45 cable car up to Männlichen. The pistes are pretty firm early on,  and it’s gloomy in the shadows.

But the sun gets to work, and the snow begins to soften. Every 10 minutes or so the cable car deposits another 70 skiers at the top of the hill. Down they all come.

We have coffee and head for Scheidegg, where it’s a lot quieter. Pistes getting quite soft now.

We finish off with a glorious romp down Wixi and ski home via Mary’s. By midday it’s really hot and it’s time for lunch and a drink on the balcony.

Out for a walk

It’s sunny and very warm today, perfect weather for walking. We catch the little train to Murren.

image

Murren is much smaller than Wengen and there are a lot less people about. Lovely views across to our side of the valley.

Half way along the walk we approach the mountain restaurant at Winteregg.

There’s a ski race for the kids here today and I’ve never seen it so busy.
