More running

It’s very warm again, but a little more cloudy. It’s time for another run, and this time we start at the Schilthornbahn. Here I come.

As we get nearer to Lauterbrunnen the path gets quite busy, and it’s only then that it occurs to me that it’s a bank holiday. Almost there.

Hot hot hot

It’s sunny and very warm today. The summer attractions are beginning to open, and one of the first is Harder Kulm, a viewpoint high above Interlaken. We catch the funicular to the top. The views are pretty good. Here’s lake Brienz.

And in the other direction, lake Thun.

There’s some pretty good walking up here, so we did a circular route which took about an hour.

Miss Grindelwald

Today we’re off to Grindelwald. Pandemonium at Scheidegg with all the Jungfraujoch visitors milling about.

When we arrive at Grindelwald there are lots of cows at the bus station.

They all look particularly clean and tidy. It’s the competition to find the most beautiful cow in the village. Which one would you choose?

Busy

The Easter holidays are upon us, so a nice day like today tempts the skiers up from the lowlands. We were tempted too, so we went up with Ibe and Colin.

Just for a laugh I wore my running watch, which faithfully recorded our trips up the lifts and down the pistes.

Apparently I hit 68km/h at one point, which was a bit of a surprise.

Early birthday

It’s a grey, murky day with snow showers and a biting north wind. On days like this, the birds that normally live at Scheidegg come down to the village in search of food.

Later on we popped down to Beanie & Sandro’s for coffee and cake. It’s Larina’s birthday next month, but we’ll be in the U.K. and she’ll be on holiday in Thailand, so she can have some presents today.

Who to believe?

According to the BBC, this morning was going to be glorious. The Swiss forecast said the complete opposite. In the event it looked ok when we woke up, so off to Scheidegg we went. Amazing views from Eigergletcher.

All of the runs from here are pretty steep. This one is called Black Rock, after the outcrop at the top left of the photo. That’s the Eiger glacier behind us.

We did quite a bit of skiing before we found ourselves at the top of the Lauberhorn in a bank of fog.

The weather was obviously changing, so we scooted down to Brandegg and caught the train home.
