Murren

After all the excitement of curling last night we thought we’d pop over to Murren today. Here’s Hayley & Val contemplating their plan of attack down a steep face on the way down.

And cruising having dealt with it.

Back to Wengen and a few beers before dinner.

Weather’s still mild and dry.

Spring weather

Very warm today, with wall to wall sunshine.

We got the train up to Scheidegg and skied around,  then went to Brandegg for lunch, and pottered back to the village for beers at the Figeller bar on the nursery slope.

International Snow Festival

Every January Grindelwald hosts the Snow Festival. Lots of stuff happens through the week, but the highlight is the snow sculpture competition. Teams from all over the world are given a few cubic metres of snow, and told to get on with it. Here’s the British entry.

It was quite mild today, and while I was snapping the British sculpture, the very elaborate French entry next door collapsed before my eyes. I hope the judges had already seen it. Swiss sculpture.

And the kids from the local school get to do one. Here’s their Ying & Yang.

The sun came out later, so by now they may all have been reduced to a pile of slush.

More sunshine

It’s another lovely day. We meet Ozzy for coffee and ski around to Scheidegg. We expect this weather in March – it’s very unusual to get consecutive days like this in January.

Short blog today as we’re off to the cinema tonight for the Swiss premiere of Point Break.
